With rising gas prices and sagging home and dollar values, my family's in conservation mode. Some helpful links:
Food:
- Lifehacker found a list of great wines under $10, just in time for the holiday party circuit (as with all Lifehacker posts, the comments are as helpful as the post). Not listed is my personal party standby Freixenet.
- Another Lifehacker find: how to turn a $5 steak into a $50 one.
Gas:
- Rare Bird Finds recommends Fuel Me Up for finding the best local gas prices.
- Lifehacker also pointed to a post on 29 ways to save money on gas.
Energy Bill:
- Energy bills automatically go up in winter, but you can keep them reasonable by performing a home energy audit (also see the EPA's interactive home tour). Little things count: my room is significantly warmer after I weather stripped the windows.
Fashion & Beauty:
- Bunnyshop discusses places to get free beauty samples (not mentioned: Sephora online lets you get up to three free samples with purchase).
- Craft found an excellent post on how to take care of clothes so they last longer.
